Chemical firm ordered to pay dying cancer victim $290m

A California jury ordered chemical giant, Monsanto, to pay nearly $290 million Friday for failing to warn a dying groundskeeper that its weed killer Roundup might cause cancer. Jurors unanimously found that Monsanto — which vowed to appeal — acted with “malice” and that its weed killers Roundup and the professional grade version RangerPro contributed “substantially” to Dewayne Johnson’s terminal illness.

Nigeria must be restructured to survive, says Makarfi

President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, has alleged plots to implicate him in Tuesday’s blockade of the National Assembly by men of Department of State Services (DSS). In a joint statement signed by his media aide, Mr Yusuph Olaniyonu and Mr Uche Anichukwu, aide to his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, Saraki said the plot was to also implicate other Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers, including Ekweremadu.

The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki has replied the All Progressives Congress ( APC) National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, who had said that he (Saraki) would not only be impeached but would also be stopped from returning to the Senate after the 2019 elections. Saraki who responded through his media aide, Yusuf Olaniyon, said Oshiomhole is behaving like rain-beaten chicken.
