The ijoko chapter of Nigerian Justice of the Peace has been inaugurated with the Chief Executive Officer/Group Managing Director of Divine Doxology Global Limited, Dr. Joel Abba, emerging as chairman of the chapter and ambassador of NJP in the area.
Performing the inauguration at Abule Ijoko in Ogun State, today, the National Chairman of NJP, Bishop (Dr). Ezekiel Olukunle, Fcma, JP, explained that NJP exists primarily to ensure that peace reigns supreme throughout the country, particularly, at the grassroots.
According to him, much as NJP fights for the human rights of the citizenry, such cases must be genuine before they could step into them.
Bishop (Dr) Olukunle, however, warned that NJP would deal decisively with anyone who misleads it with phony cases of human rights abuse.
His words: “We handle only genuine cases of human rights abuse. If you deceive us and we find out later, we will deal decisively with you”.
He further explained that NJP operates in conjunction with the police and the judiciary to ensure effective dispensation of justice.
“We must do everything in our power to deal with criminal cases in our various communities. We all know the criminals in our midst, but because we are not protected, we find it extremely difficult to expose them”, he noted.
Responding, Dr. Abba opined that managing human beings is a Herculean task, but expressed the hope that with God on his side, he would succeed.
